Here is what you will learn.

This 90-minute course offers real world investment strategies designed for investors age 50+.

Social security, pensions and annuities typically don’t generate enough income to fulfill your monthly income needs; therefore, you must rely on your investments to fill the income gap.

Most portfolios are built for accumulation — not retirement.

Buy and hold index strategies that have historically worked well in your working years may have costly unintented consequences in retirement. For example:

  • Increased risk due to portfolio drift from years of “set-it-and-forget-it” investing.

  • Overconcentration in a few stocks or funds.

  • Substantial embedded capital gains that reduce net after-tax returns.

  • Bond strategies that may no longer behave like they used to.

  • Investor behavior that may lead to selling and buying at the wrong time during market downturns.

Understanding how to find the top quartile investment managers, structuring the optimal allocation, and minimizing taxes is critical to creating a portfolio that is sufficient to maintain your lifestyle in retirement.

Learn similar strategies high net-worth investors use to achieve competive rates of return while taking less risk and paying less tax.

Here is what you will learn.

  • Why many investors underperform the market

Learn the top 4 investor mistakes that significantly diminish performance and how to avoid them.

  • Investing beyond index funds

Learn why high net-worth investors may prefer separately managed accounts (SMAs), direct indexing, and institutional bond ladders over TSP, 401(k) and self-directed brokerage accounts at Vanguard, Fidelity, TIAA CREF, or Schwab.

  • Why owning low-cost investments with good performance alone is not enough to optimize your portfolio.

Learn the three critical components of constructing a portfolio that yield a competitive return with the least amount of risk and tax.

  • Advanced investment tax strategies

Learn how to increase your net after-tax return by reducing capital gains and income taxes on highly appreciated stock, ETFs and mutual funds.

  • Customized portfolio design

Learn how to align your investment portfolio with your personal values and priorities using SMAs, quantitative factors and qualitative screens.

  • How to achieve competitive returns, minimze risk and pay less tax

You will learn how to: (1) analyze your portfolio; (2) screen professional money managers; and (3) identify the areas in your porfolio that could be improved.

  • Are financial advisors worth their fees?

Learn what services financial advisors should offer to provide the most value and justify their fees.
